Practice Area: 7.5

There’s a decent amount of space for the driving range, but the mats that you’re required to hit off of have seen much better days. They are very uneven, and if you touch the ground with your club at address, you will likely have a tough time keeping the ball still.

Clubhouse: 7.5

The clubhouse at Naga-Waukee definitely shows some age, especially in the restrooms. Despite that, it meets all the needs of a golfer. There’s a wide range of items in the pro shop portion – more than just the basics for that day’s round, too. There is a spacious sitting area with TVs to watch as you relax before of after your round. Finally, there’s a concession area that offers the basic snacks and beverages. There is no hard liquor sold at Naga-Waukee, so keep that in mind if it’s part of your normal golf experience.

Carts: 7.5

The carts are pretty basic. They have the bigger console with a place to put your phone, and lots of room for drinks, etc. Other than that, no real bells and whistles like GPS or a club cleaner. The carts run well, though, so they get the job done.

Staff: 8

I haven’t had a lot of staff interaction at Naga-Waukee, but every person I dealt with was friendly and acted like they were happy to be there. The people at the check in desk were engaging and were smiling. The bev cart person did a good job to make sure we were taken care of on the course, especially on a humid day. Bottom line is that the staff was what I expect and hope for when I am at the golf course.

I made it back almost a year later, but not due to trying. Naga-Waukee is a tough course to get a weekend round on these days, but I totally understand why. Such a nice course. The weather cooperated much more this time around, so I was able to appreciate the course even more. My biggest take from playing the second time is that the back nine is quite a bit more difficult. There are more chances to get in trouble, particularly off the tee. My scorecard echoed those sentiments, as I played very well on the front before getting into some trouble around holes 11-14. You have to keep your focus as you finish your round on this golf course. I will be sure to get back to Naga-Waukee regularly!

Previous Visits

July 2025 (first visit): I only recently became aware of how nice of a golf course Naga-Waukee is, and I quickly discovered that people’s assessments were correct. The first impression of the property as you look out from the practice green area is stunning. Everything was in good condition once I started playing, too. The thing I’ll remember the most, though, was the heat. It has to be one of the hottest, most insufferable days I’ve played golf on in my life. The sun was blazing and the humidity was elevated. It made enjoying the day much more difficult, but I knew that I would have to come back soon.
